Not Us or Them, but rather WE

Brain fog, like pollution, slows my mind. I am here now. Trying to breathe and remember. Saying a prayer, offering a blessing of thanks and gratitude. I know that we citizens of the world are one, not us or them. I wish my beloved United States could focus on what unites rather than divides. I’ve developed a practice of sending love and light into the places where I know not how to do anything else. Houston with its flooding and hurricane. India with its poverty and pollution. A beggar who I’m hesitant to approach. America and her divided status. Love and light. Both/And. Not us or them, but rather We.

Silence is not an option

Wordsmith that I am, I have no words and saying nothing is not an option. Thoughts and scenes roll through my mind and heart as I witness the vitriol that’s being spewed in the United States right now. I’ve hidden behind my sensitive nature (too much news and/or violence send me into a tailspin). I’ve hoped that sending love and light into the world will be enough. It is a beautiful sentiment and act, and it is silent. Silence is no longer an option for me, so today I share my bumbling way through this charged topic.

Summer Snippet - La Bella Luna

Playing Tricks - If Mother Moon wants to lay on her side, so be it :) Sitting on a sidewalk on Alki Beach, reading poetry and writing prose underneath the full August moon. My husband, Bill stands beside me taking photos of the skyline and passing ferry boats. La bella luna floats dreamily higher into the sky. Young girls giggle to my left and a toddler babbles on my right.

Peace, love, and light are my prayers for the day and this gorgeous summer night.
