live it to give it is all about love and connection. Being authentic. Living our lives and sharing it with others. Life is messy and so is this blog. Somedays my organized coach self shows up. Other days it's my vulnerable author. There's a mom that lives inside me alongside a wife, friend, social justice activist, creative muse, ponderer extraordinaire, and multitude of others. I'll introduce you to people who inspire me and offer a peek into my world that very likely intersects with your world. In other words, I will share life in its full, glorious mess with you. I'm honored you're here and I hope you'll come back soon!!  Cheers! Kayce

Real Lessons Learned While Writing Fiction

I wrote a novel this month. Wow! Do you know how much fun that is to write? I'll do it again... I wrote a novel this month! Before the tingle wears off and I invite my inner critic and editor to step back in (btw - I sent them on vacation for the month of November and highly recommend it), I wanted to share the delight of accomplishment with you.

She scowls at her spouse and shoos him away to get more napkins as she smoothes her own perfectly coiffed appearance. Outside in the concourse, people rush at (and by) me like flying grains of wheat released from an overflowing silo.

Passion with a capital P

Why would you or I commit to doing anything we feel less than passionate about? Consider these words from Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi: “A person who is constantly worried about how others will perceive him/her, who is afraid of creating the wrong impression, or of doing something inappropriate, is also condemned to permanent exclusion from enjoyment.”

Doggie Poo and You

It may be the irreverent part of me or my own impish little girl, but I roared with laughter upon reading a client's tale about her granddaughter rolling around in dog poop. The story is the exact opposite of propriety and sounds downright icky on the base level. Doesn’t society suggest that we’re supposed to always stay clean and tidy and/or be the prim grandmother in sensible shoes reading Mother Goose by the fire to our pink-cheeked offspring? Who says those things have to be true?

Living a Whole-hearted Day

In her Tedx Talk, "The Power of Vulnerability," researcher/story teller, Brene Brown concludes with four steps that lead to what she calls a whole-hearted life. The steps center upon vulnerability, and she shares these words, "to be vulnerable is to be alive." I invite you to pause and take a few moments to consider what vulnerability looks like for you. How will you choose to be alive?
